Independent service provider (ISP)

Independent System Operator-New England (ISO-NE)

An Independent System Operator (ISO) responsible for managing the power grid and wholesale electricity market in six New England states, including Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Independent System Operator (ISO)

A nonprofit organization that manages the electrical power grid and the wholesale power market for designated regions. ISOs perform similar roles to Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) but these typically cover smaller, single-state areas.
