ProEnergy Awarded EPC Project by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro
ProEnergy announced that it has been selected by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro), a subsidiary of Nalcor Energy (Nalcor), to provide the engineering, procurement and construction for a turnkey 100 MW combustion turbine generator project at the Holyrood Generating Station in Newfoundland, Canada. Nalcor Energy is leading the development of the province's energy resources, and is focused on environmentally responsible and sustainable growth.
“Hydro is keenly interested in adding fast track backup generation capacity on the island of Newfoundland,” said ProEnergy CEO, Jeff Canon. “ProEnergy is uniquely positioned to support this endeavor, and we are honored that Hydro has recognized our capability to provide a technically superior solution on an aggressive construction schedule.”
“Several years ago, Hydro identified that there would be a generation capacity deficit on the Island power system leading to the requirement for additional generation,” said Rob Henderson, Vice President Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. “Hydro has been preparing to meet the existing generation need, and is pleased to have identified an opportunity to obtain more capacity by the end of 2014 through ProEnergy. This CT will provide additional security of supply to the system for the winter 2014/2015.”
